FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

01. HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?

Microbladed eyebrows typically last one to two years for most people before they need a touch-up. Cosmetic tattoo treatments are considered permanent and will not wash off — however, they will fade over time and may need to be refreshed every 12 months to 18 months. Those who do not follow aftercare instructions properly may require more frequent microblading touch-ups.

02. DOES MICROBLADING HURT?

At Casey Diehl Beauty we use two different types of topical numbing to help alleviate any discomfort. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during the microblading process.

03. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR EYEBROW TATTOOS TO HEAL?

Your eyebrows will take approximately 10 days to heal. During that week, we encourage you to let them naturally exfoliate off. This means keeping them out of water, sweat, steam, etc. Once the scabbing phase passes, your eyebrows will appear lighter, and their true colour should come out after four weeks. As long as you’re good at following the aftercare instructions, there shouldn’t be a problem going to work or being out in public.

04. HOW LONG IS THE MICROBLADING PROCESS?

The appointment usually takes two hours, and most of the time is spent taking before & after photos, Numbing the brow area and going overdrawing the shape of your eyebrows and picking the right colour in order to ensure that your eyebrow blading turns out perfect.

05. YOU'RE TOO EXPENSIVE, I FOUND SOMEONE CHEAPER.

Microblading is an extremely meticulous permanent cosmetic procedure, and microblading costs vary from artist to artist. Remember, this is your face, and the procedure is permanent. Casey has trained with some of the top microblading and permanent makeup artists in the world. When looking for an eyebrow tattoo artist, do not nickel and dime your face. Microblading is not regulated, therefore anyone can do it. Please research local makeup tattoo artists, and most importantly, look at their work before you book an appointment. Paying less upfront might end up costing a lot more in the long run to fix.

06. IS MICROBLADING PERMANENT?

Because the colour is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off, microblading brows are considered permanent. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, making it fade over time and requiring future touch-ups.

07. WILL YOU DRAW THE SHAPE ON FIRST?

Yes, we won’t start the microblading process until you agree with the colour selected and the shape.

08. CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AFTER MICROBLADING?

Do not wear makeup on the brows for at least two weeks after your procedure, but everywhere else is fine.

09. IS THE SECOND APPOINTMENT NECESSARY?

For microblading, at least two appointments are needed initially, at least four to six weeks apart. Microblading touch-ups are done no earlier than four weeks after your initial procedure and no later than eight. If you do not schedule your eyebrow tattoo touch-up within eight weeks, you will be required to pay the touch-up fee outlined in the touch-up schedule. It is absolutely imperative to complete the touch-up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. At the permanent makeup touch-up, we assess the colour retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go bolder and add more density as well as correct any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes during the touch-up.

10.HOW WILL MY EYEBROWS LOOK RIGHT AFTER THE MICROBLADING PROCEDURE? DO I NEED TO GO HOME AND HIDE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS?

They will look great! They may be a little darker for a couple of days, but you shouldn't experience any bruising and will only have very minimal swelling. You can go out to dinner the same day — just don't drink alcohol because it makes you sweat, bleed (unlikely), bruise, and worse of all, it leads you to make questionable decisions like touching your eyebrows with dirty hands!

11. DOES MICROBLADING HURT AFTERWARD?

The eyebrow tattoo area can be a little sore for the first few hours, and it is not uncommon for it to be tender for a few days.

12. CAN YOU MICROBLADE OVER AN EXISTING TATTOO?

Yes. However, the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. If you do have an existing tattoo, we recommend that you submit a picture to us so we can determine whether you are a good candidate for the microblading procedure.

13. I HAD MY EYEBROWS MICROBLADED SOMEWHERE ELSE, CAN YOU DO A TOUCH-UP?

If you have been microbladed elsewhere and need a touch-up, please submit a clear photo of your brows so we can evaluate if they are correctable and if it will require the full treatment or not again.

01. WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT?

If you would like to use as much hair as possible, you may let your eyebrows grow in until your appointment. I will pluck any stray hairs that you wish to remove after the mapping of your eyebrows.

  • Avoid tanning 2 weeks prior to your Microblading appointment.

  • Do not come to your appointment with a sunburn or flaring skin around your eyebrows. In this case, please email me 48 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Avoid chemical peels at least 4 weeks prior to you appointment.

  • Avoid Alcohol, caffeine, Ibuprofen and blood thinner medication 48 hours prior to appt.

  • Avoid Botox/Filler treatments for 2 week prior & post Microblading appointment.

02. FOLLOWING MY MICROBLADING APPOINTMENT

  • Immediately following your procedure, the microbladed area will appear to be darker and bolder in colour and more sharply defined. This will continue for 2-3 days after the first appointment.

  • You cannot shower for 48 hours following your microblading appointment so plan accordingly. The healing balm I will provide or Coconut oil may be used on the treated area 1x per day.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the microbladed area.

  • Keep the microbladed area clean by gently wiping a cotton swab with warm water 2x per day and patting dry.

  • Do not pick or scratch at the dry skin/flakiness. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment. The hair strokes will slowly reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.

  • Do not apply makeup to the microbladed area for the first 7-10 days.

  • Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes can be made at your touchup appointment.

  • The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks, at which time the true colour of the tattoo is evident. During the process, your brows will soften and lighten. Be patient. Keep in mind that microbladed brows heal up 30-40% softer than the initial colour.

03. AFTER YOUR BROWS HAVE HEALED

  • Microblading can last anywhere from one to two, years depending on the client's lifestyle, skin type, and aftercare.
  • Exposure to the sun and tanning beds can cause fading and discoloration of the eyebrow blading pigment.

  • When you are outdoors, always apply sunscreen to the brows once completely healed.

  • Maintain removal of unwanted brow hair outside of your microbladed shape by tweezing, waxing, threading, or razoring.

  • Do not laser around the brow area, as some lasers can change the color of the pigment.

  • Additional brow makeup application may still be required post-microblading to achieve your desired look.

  • For further sun protection, wear hats and sunglasses.

Yearly eyebrow tattoo touch-ups are recommended to maintain your results.
